@Candidly_krystal THE GOOD||THE BAD|| THE MUMMY

The Mummy herself:

I found it a little uncanny to theme our sons 2nd Birthday Party around something flying as I was told time and time again to absorb every moment as the years “fly by” too quick! Our son is in love with watching airplanes pass over and with my aviation background, I couldn’t help but be inspired to embrace this as a birthday party theme.
I love to plan an event, putting together all the details that help bring it to life, it’s my little creative outlet! Combined with my love for vintage and bohemian décor and also organic textures, my vision was to step back in time and create a Vintage Aviation Party!
Christina at Boutique Cake Art “landed” the brief with her creativity. I can style a party but bake a masterpiece, well, I’ll leave that to the kick-ass caker! We agreed on a minimal yet intricate design, personalised with height (and enough to ensure we had left overs)!!! It was the centre piece to a fantastic spread of savouries and sweets, like Krispy Kreme Donuts (aka ‘Flotation Devices’).
I had envisaged a ‘cloud nine’ feel and spent hours blowing up white balloons for several cloud garlands (please don’t ask me how many balloons and next time I’ll be investing in an electric pump)!!! I then foraged through vintage stores and prop shops to create the beautiful aesthetic space! I had a couple of vintage suitcases already but the more the merrier! Going OTT with kitsch paraphernalia, is never in my brief. I had a few custom items created by the wonderful Ana from ‘Designs by Ana D’, this also included our custom invitations which where the original curved edged paper boarding passes with a perforated ticket – just stunning.

Adding to the theme were the playful spaces for all the kids, the ‘Inflight Movie’ (of course Disney Pixar ‘Planes’) with individual servings of popcorn, ‘Passport Photos’ with handmade photo props by my talented Mother and a gorgeous eco-friendly cardboard airplane by Flatout Frankie - hop in, hold on and take off!!!

Did I mention the flight home was cancelled?!
