Applying fondant is a skill we don’t often see in this Semi naked/ Buttercream bubble we all now decorate in, but don’t fall into the trap of trends. Fondant is still well and truly alive and will stand the test of time. It has been around since our parent’s generation and it still features frequently in today’s classic cake designs.

In this workshop you will learn how to use fondant for a beautiful, modern application. No thick layers or rounded edges here.Cake designs featuring fondant are looking better than ever as the tools and techniques have evolved over the last few years.  This modern touch has been a total game changer in working with this medium.

Boutique Cake Art founder Christina has been at the forefront of adapting these new fondant techniques.  Let her show you what she has achieved as well as the tools and techniques she uses to create the sharp edges and seamless finish you see on Instagram and Pinterest. Use this opportunity to scrub up on your skills and become a niche in your cake community.

  • Leveling and stacking your cake
  • Masking your cake (The most important step for a crisp edge to your cake)
  • Applying fondant to a tall cake
  • Creating crisp edges to your cake
  • Applying a geometric gold pattern to your cake
  • Wiring dried and fresh flowers

Terms and Conditions (cancellation policy)

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will be holding small intimate classes with masks being worn. In the event of a class being cancelled due to government restrictions a refund will be provided (minus a booking fee of $8). Or alternatively you can move into a new class. We do encourage any potential student to stay home and not attend a class if you are experiencing any of the symptoms related to covid-19. We will be testing temperatures upon arrival.

If you cannot attend a class because of being unwell or showing symptoms we will also offer a refund on this occasion if notified 72 hours before the class commencing (minus the $8 booking fee). Inside of this 72 hours we won’t be able to refund or place you into another class. Someone can however attend on your behalf and we can change the booking into there name.

To be able to run a class we do need full attendance. Given our new flexibility around cancellations due to restrictions and symptoms of Covid a class may have to be cancelled due to last minute cancellations. You will be notified if this occurs and a full refund will be issued or the option to move into another class.
